Team
The Maas-Rhine School was founded on a love of language. We love delving into language, puzzling over sentence structures and exploring the logic behind grammatical rules.
Improving language skills
The idea for the Maas-Rhine School arose from the languages we hear most frequently in our Euregion: Dutch, German, French and Limburgisch. Four different languages that share various points of connection, as the words are derived from one another and the languages have intermingled over the centuries. We aim to contribute to strengthening language skills by drawing on our ‘joy of language’. We wish to pass this joy on to the participants.
A wide range of courses at various levels
We focus in particular on the four languages of the Euregio. We also offer courses in Spanish and Russian. We are happy to help with any language-related queries and support you in finding your feet in another language. We want learning to be accessible and appealing. That is why we offer a wide range of courses at various levels and with different objectives. Whether you want to learn a language out of interest, because you are planning a stay abroad, or because you wish to prepare for an exam, we are happy to help you achieve your personal language goals.
Our Team

Esther van Loo

Esther is a first grade language teacher. She teaches Limburgisch, Nt2 (Dutch as a second language) and Russian, and offers exam preparation. She is also happy to help you consider language policy within your (Limburgisch) organisation.
Esther has extensive experience in the education sector. She has worked with pupils with a range of learning needs and specialises in developing suitable teaching materials. Esther offers tailor-made solutions and is results-oriented, without losing sight of the enjoyment of learning.
David Vanderschuren

David is a German teacher of second grade. As well as German, he also teaches Dutch. Having worked in secondary education in the Netherlands for several years, David has been working in adult education in Germany for many years. He is always keen to help people learn a language, and he really enjoys doing so. Patience and a fun, light-hearted atmosphere are key to his teaching.
Romy van Stigt

Romy studied German language and literature and lived in Germany for many years. As a result, she has an excellent command of the German language in all areas. In addition to speaking, reading, listening and writing, she also has a thorough knowledge of German grammar and literature. However, her interest in languages goes much further: she is qualified to teach French as a second language and also teaches Dutch.
With Romy, you’ve come to the right place for engaging and communication-focused (supplementary) lessons, each tailored to your specific needs.
Magali Régent

Magali is French and has lived in the Maas-Rhine Euroregion for 25 years. She holds a Franco-German Master’s degree, which enabled her to begin teaching language courses at cultural institutions and universities in Aachen. From 2001 onwards, she worked extensively on international projects, which taught her the value of effective communication between different cultures.
Since 2011, Magali has been offering language courses for individuals and groups, using a holistic ‘heart-body-mind’ approach: in all her language courses, her aim is for students to experience wisdom, joy and independence. Her teaching style has already helped many course participants achieve positive results.
Mathieu Bussels

Mathieu combines a wide range of professional experience in multilingual environments with a lasting interest in effective communication through the targeted application of linguistic insights. He takes great pleasure in passing on these insights to learners of all ages, and as an expert speaking from personal experience (he is still learning Spanish and Czech himself), he is well aware of the opportunities and challenges that learning a language entails. “Teaching = pacing” is his motto.
Peter van Stigt

Peter is co-founder of the Maas-Rijn School and Russian language specialist; he is responsible for client acquisition, administration and day-to-day tasks. In this way, he makes a vital contribution to our organisation behind the scenes.
Jenny Kranendonk

Jenny is responsible for the content on the website. Through the text and images, she aims to provide you with as much information as possible about what the Maas-Rhein School has to offer and, of course, to inspire you to take part in one of the courses.
